The 2005 Tignanello is a fascinating vintage for this iconic Super Tuscan, representing a shift toward elegance and finesse in a year that was cooler and more varied than the "blockbuster" 1997 or 2004 vintages.

Produced by Marchesi Antinori, Tignanello was the first Sangiovese-based wine to be aged in barriques and one of the first reds in the Chianti Classico region not to use white grapes in the blend. By 2005, the estate had perfected the balance between the vibrant, nervous energy of Sangiovese and the structural weight of Cabernet.
